Since April 2018, thousands of people, numerous organisations and communities have had to leave Nicaragua seeking to protect their integrity, in many cases with no time to say goodbye. From Costa Rica, with memories of their country, they have sought to continue working in defence of human rights.

Find out more by having a look at this illustrated story, a tribute to all the Nicaraguans who defend human rights, carrying the baggage of exile, demanding justice, truth, reparation and guarantees of non-repetition, in a tireless quest to return to their country.

This short storry is part of PBI Nicaragua in Costa Rica’s publication “Nicaraguan voices in resistance”, a project that unites different voices from Nicaraguan exiled human rights defenders.  It is a tribute to the Nicaraguan organisations and collectives that, from exile, work continuously in the defence of human rights, bringing together the voices and testimonies of those who promote this work through non-violent action and in a culture of peace.
