Charity event Too Many Critics to return next month

Taking place at Roe in Canary Wharf on 16 June, the evening will see food critics and writers Tom Parker Bowles form the Mail on Sunday, Time Out‘s Leonie Cooper, David Ellis from The London Standard, Molly Codyre from Foodism, Bloomberg‘s Kate Krader, Hannah Twiggs from the Independent, and CODE‘s Adam Hyman cook a five-course dinner for a room full of guests and chefs-turned-judges, to raise money and awareness for charity Action Against Hunger.

They will be tasked with cooking signature dishes from both Roe and Fallow restaurants, including Devon crab with courgette, almond, kaffir lime and horseradish; British octopus flatbread with Wildfarmed sourdough, crispy chilli and pickled lemon; spiced lamb skewer with smoked onion yoghurt, hot honey, onion, tomato; Roe Surf & Turf with grilled lobster tail, 35-day aged beef fillet, lobster boulangere, shellfish butter, and a red wine sauce; and caramelised banana parfait with peanut, toasted vanilla and a banana skin tuile.

Chefs including Ashley Palmer-Watts, Shaun Searley and Gizzi Erskine will take on the role of critic during the event, which will be hosted by food and travel writer and presenter Leyla Kazim.

Too Many Critics was established by food writer Bill Knott and the late restaurant critic Charles Campion in support of Action Against Hunger

Last year’s event raised over £145,000 for the charity, supporting its work providing life-saving treatment and care to millions of people suffering from life-threatening hunger in over 50 countries.

Funds raised at this year’s event will help Action Against Hunger continue its vital work tackling life-threatening hunger, both in the UK and around the world.

Tickets can be purchased here and are priced at £250 per person and will include a five-course meal with matching wines from Liberty Wines, and a Taittinger champagne reception with canapes.
