The Trump administration issued an executive order this year calling for training teachers to use AI in their classrooms. At the same time, the pace of advances in artificial intelligence continues to quicken, putting schools in a difficult spot, because most are already behind the curve in keeping up with AI and how to use the technology in K-12 education. That means that as new AI technologies emerge that might be relevant for teaching and learning, schools will not have the expertise to evaluate those technologies effectively and put them to use in meaningful ways.
