Bimi Boo Academy is part of the broader Bimi Boo family of educational apps, which support young learners in building foundational skills through play-based, interactive experiences. Designed specifically for classrooms, the Academy helps students explore early literacy, math, and everyday skills through short, engaging activities. It works especially well for pre‑K and kindergarten and can extend into early 1st grade as students grow more confident with phonics, letter formation, and basic math concepts.
While Bimi Boo offers a wide range of learning apps for young children, Bimi Boo Academy brings that thoughtfully designed content together in one teacher-friendly platform. Early childhood special education teacher Nicole Homerin integrated the app into her daily lessons and appreciated how easily she could adapt activities to meet her students’ diverse learning needs. Here’s what she had to say about using Bimi Boo Academy in her classroom.
For which grade levels and subject areas do you think the Bimi Boo Academy app is best suited?
I think the Bimi Boo app is most suitable for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten ages. Pre-K students may need additional support to navigate understanding directions and some of the more complex math concepts. The math and reading sections could be used for 1st grade as well when students are more able to independently complete addition problems and string letters into words.
Does this product align with any specific standards or curriculum guidelines that you know of?
It aligns with the California Preschool/Transitional Kindergarten Learning Foundations. It also aligns with the Massachusetts Guidelines for Preschool and Kindergarten Learning Experiences.
How did you use the Bimi Boo Academy app in your classroom?

I used the app during center time, pairing it with multisensory learning opportunities in different content areas. For literacy centers, we are working on understanding letters in different forms. I introduced letters in ASL, Braille, and English and paired those experiences with the app’s letter‑formation pages.
I would also like to use the app’s stories to pair with lessons, such as meal time, sports for PE, and music.
How did your students react to the Bimi Boo Academy app?
My students were excited to use the app. They were happy and asked for “more” using sign language. In my classroom, students are pre-verbal or non-speaking. We use gestures and facial expressions to understand what our students think. They smiled, stayed engaged, and reached for the app throughout the lesson, clearly showing that they enjoyed it.
How easy was it to use and implement the app in your classroom?

It was easy to use and implement the app in my classroom. But I could have benefited from a menu option button to eliminate the need to scroll.
What were the two features you liked most about the Bimi Boo Academy app?
I liked the variety of options in content area and length of activity. I also liked that there was a variety of options for grade levels, as some of my students are younger and just learning letters, while other students are older and working on combining letters into words and phonics.
What makes the app special or unique compared to other teaching resources you’ve used?

It is not based solely around academic content areas (Literacy, Math, Social Studies, etc.) like many other apps. And it includes concepts of ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), like cleaning up, home life, etc., as well as social-emotional skills.
How will the app save you time or make teaching easier?
It will help me with differentiating material and center time with students. Different options within the app allow me to tailor the material I present to meet the wide variety of learning needs in my classroom.
How do you plan to use the Bimi Boo Academy app again in the future?
I plan to continue to explore ways I could use it for both whole-group and small-group lessons. I would like to use some of the songs as transition songs or between activities. I would also like to use some of the shape activities for sorting and matching activities.
