¡Hola!

I became a meteorologist because I know that when a hurricane threatens, people in harm’s way need trustworthy, reliable, and practical information — right away. I joined the Yale Climate Connections team to help make that lifesaving information available to Spanish-speaking readers in the U.S., because too often, they can’t rely on local news for storm updates in their preferred language.

In fact, more than 70% of our Spanish-speaking readers say that our coverage helps them stay safe during extreme weather.

That’s why we’re asking readers like you to help us keep our extreme weather coverage going and growing. Will you become a donor today?

As a bonus, every dollar you donate during this period will be matched, up to $10,000, thanks to generous support from an anonymous Yale Climate Connections reader.

To thank you for your support, if you become a monthly donor by August 1, you’ll be invited to join an exclusive, monthly-donors-only conversation with meteorologist Jeff Masters, Editor-in-Chief Sara Peach, and me over Zoom later this season.

When you go to the donation page, make sure you’ve selected the “recurring” option, and remember that if you set up your donation to be anonymous, we won’t have your information to invite you to our Zoom conversation. August 1 is the last day to qualify.

If you’d rather donate by check, make it out to “Yale University” and write “For Yale Climate Connections” on the check. Mail it to: Yale Climate Connections, Yale University, Attn: Development Office, 205 Prospect Street, New Haven, CT 06511

Yale University is a nonprofit 501(c)3. Its federal tax ID is 06-0646973.

Thanks for your support as we prepare for peak hurricane season,

A woman
