A renewed call for an immediate end to the fighting in DRC

Date:

Statement from International Alert on the conflict in Eastern DRC.

Nic Hailey CMG, Executive Director of International Alert, said:

The escalating conflict in Eastern DRC puts more lives at risk. We are renewing our call for an immediate end to the fighting.

We know from our work with peace actors across the region that communities have been working together and depend on each other. All parties to the conflict in Eastern DRC must listen to communities’ call for peace.

There is an urgent need to bring about non-violent solutions to this conflict that respect international norms and deliver peace and stability.
