David Reese Appointed CENIC Vice President for Infrastructure Strategy and Security

Date:

Continuing CENIC’s tradition of collaboration with CENIC Associates, private industry partners, and research and education partners in California, the U.S., CENIC President & CEO Louis Fox is pleased to announce that Dave Reese will become Vice President for Infrastructure Strategy and Security, focusing on CENIC’s infrastructure and network security strategies.

This new position underscores CENIC’s commitment to look for solutions to bridge the “digital divide” that impacts many of the institutions CENIC serves. CENIC’s focus on infrastructure strategy, including private industry partnerships, should help to spur innovative solutions to bring high speed broadband access to CENIC Associates in unserved and underserved areas of California.

Collaborating with security experts in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Sciences Network (ESnet) and among other CENIC partners, Vice President Reese will continue to refine and extend CENIC’s culture of network security, focusing on state-of-the art network security architecture and practices in the CalREN Network, and working with campuses to design and deploy Science DMZs and other security techniques designed to facilitate data-intensive research.

In addition to the focus on infrastructure and security strategies, Vice President Reese will continue his work with regional partnerships such as The Quilt and the Western Region Network.
