The racist murder of George Floyd in May 2020 provoked a seismic reaction, and anti-racism entered the mainstream. Individuals, organisations, and whole sectors grappled with the systems that had made that murder possible.
The international cooperation sector began to recognise the colonial roots that have shaped our ways of working, and many organisations made commitments to change. Peace Direct was one of them.
More than five years on, we’re reflecting on our progress so far and holding ourselves accountable for our mistakes. Decolonising Peace Direct captures these lessons, which we hope will be a useful guide for others on this journey.
