Cities can bring CHAMP to life

During the ICLEI World Congress 2024, Katja Dörner, Mayor of Bonn, Germany, and chair of the Climate Action Governance Portfolio for the ICLEI Global Executive Committee, called on urban leaders to proactively engage with their national governments and national associations of local governments to enhance NDCs by 2025 and support CHAMP. National associations of local governments in Germany, Brazil, and the United States – led by ICLEI leaders – have already passed resolutions supporting the initiative.

Reflecting on global climate action at the local level

“What unites us all is our commitment to pushing for climate action and an ambitious outcome at the upcoming COP29,” reflects Anna Aaen, Deputy Mayor, City of Aalborg, Denmark. She represented the Local Governments and Municipal Authorities (LGMA) Constituency at the Copenhagen Climate Ministerial, held last March by Denmark in cooperation with the COP28 and COP29 Presidencies.

What’s cooking? ICLEI CityFood updates fresh off the stove

It’s been a busy time for ICLEI’s CityFood Program since the celebration of its tenth anniversary just last year. Ranging from consultations with food systems actors on fresh food markets, work on numerous projects and important global advocacy engagements, CityFood is working firmly to strengthen urban food systems as a vital topic on the policy agenda.
