New episodes of a groundbreaking children’s show centering on characters who all have various disabilities are heading to television.
The animated show “Hop” will return with seven episodes on the streaming service Max.
The series follows Hop, a frog with one leg that’s shorter than the other, and his friends in Fair Village. They include a “fiercely intelligent squirrel” named Filipa who’s described as neurodivergent and Benny, an alligator who’s afraid of everything.

The show, developed by the creator of the children’s series “Arthur,” premiered in April. It is aimed at preschoolers and focuses on kindness, acceptance and working together.
“Our entire ensemble cast of characters are coping with some type of disability, which teaches our audience to embrace their own, and others’, uniqueness,” said Marc Brown, the show’s creator. “In this new batch of episodes we introduce a blind character and we continue to create a show that will challenge our viewers to understand and appreciate people who are not like them.”
The new episodes of “Hop” will be available on Max, the streaming service previously known as HBO Max, starting Aug. 15.
