One of the biggest names in the hotel industry is taking new steps to make its properties easier to navigate for people with disabilities.

Hilton is rolling out an option at many of its locations that will allow individuals who are blind or who have low vision to get personalized assistance as they adjust to their new surroundings.

The company is partnering with Be My Eyes, an app that connects people with vision impairments with sighted volunteers who use live video and AI to guide them through spaces. At Hilton properties, the app will connect guests with specially trained Hilton Reservations and Customer Care agents.

Hotel guests will be able to get free help making their way through the property, adjusting the thermostat, operating the coffee machine and with other tasks.

“As a leading hospitality company, Hilton is committed to creating an experience that is welcoming for every guest, at every hotel, every time,” said Mike Gathright, senior vice president of customer excellence and innovation at Hilton. “We believe that every guest — regardless of ability or any other factor — deserves a reliable and friendly travel experience, and we are proud to partner with Be My Eyes to make that more of a reality for thousands of Be My Eyes users.”

The new option is available at several Hilton brands including Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, DoubleTree by Hilton and Hampton by Hilton, the company said.

Hotel guests can access assistance through the Be My Eyes app by selecting the appropriate Hilton brand.
