One of the nation’s best known furniture stores is adding to its lineup of offerings designed to meet the needs of people with disabilities.

Pottery Barn said it’s expanding its collaboration with Michael Graves Design, a brand known for accessible design, with several new products.

Michael Graves Design said that the latest products are draw on hundreds of hours of research with adults aging in place, individuals with disabilities and both family and professional caregivers. All are designed to be aesthetically pleasing and compliant under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the company said.

“With this new bathroom collection, the Pottery Barn and Michael Graves Design teams came together to infuse accessibility and safety into everyday essentials without compromising on design,” said Donald Strum, president of Michael Graves Design. “Inspired by our legacy of Design for All, the collection brings thoughtful enhancements to Pottery Barn’s timeless style, creating solutions that support a wide community: from people aging in place to those living with disabilities or recovering from injuries.”

Pottery Barn initially debuted its collection with Michael Graves Design last year with a selection of accessible beds and other pieces focused on the bedroom. The products are part of the store’s “Accessible Home” collection, which includes 220 items that are meant to be “functional, accessible, and beautiful.”
