Statement from International Alert on the conflict in Goma, Eastern DRC.

Nic Hailey CMG, Executive Director of International Alert, said:

International Alert calls for an immediate end to the fighting in and around Goma, for the civilian population to be protected from violence, and for humanitarian access to those in need of help. All parties to the conflict in Eastern DRC must listen to communities’ urgent call for peace. We call for a return to diplomatic efforts to bring about lasting, peaceful solutions to this conflict that has for too long blighted the lives of millions of people.
