For 40 years, Search for Common Ground has been dedicated to ending human suffering caused by violent conflict. We connect peacebuilders from the bustling streets of the Middle East and Africa to the lively landscapes of Latin America and the diverse communities of the United States, fostering unity amidst diversity.
Preemptive Love was founded in 2007 to help Iraqi children access heart surgeries. Over time, Preemptive Love’s mission grew beyond surgical rooms; embarking on a different kind of operation – one that targeted the root cause of conflict. Preemptive Love joined peacemakers worldwide to deliver food, medical care, and essential resources to communities who needed it most, fighting to undo violence and create a more beautiful world which we all know is possible.
In 2018, Preemptive Love began helping refugees and displaced people in Iraq access jobs and economic opportunities by providing tech skills training. In 2019, Preemptive Love listened to migrants and asylum seekers sharing their stories about violence in their communities across Latin America. In response, they provided help for those in need at the US-Mexico border and in Colombia and Venezuela.
In 2023, Preemptive Love and Search for Common Ground announced that our organizations would be doing something unheard of in the non-profit space: harnessing our strengths as a merged organization, to meet the moment and create more impact.
Now together, a year after announcing our merger, we are proud to present an updated, unified visual identity.
The evolution of our logo mirrors our evolution as an organization. The two hearts, once representative of healing, now symbolize the convergence of two differing forces. They represent the parties in conflict, moving towards each other with understanding. And at the heart of it all lies the piece that binds them together – the common ground. It signifies our commitment to bridging divides, fostering dialogue, and building relationships across enemy lines.
As one unified organization, we are proud to work together to meet the moment.
