Finding common ground amidst division is the goal this Thanksgiving

November 15, 2024

As we sit down for Thanksgiving this year, many of us are excited about 2025 and many of us may feel the weight of a particularly tough season. For some, conversations with family and friends may feel more fraught, especially in the wake of the recent election. The weight of division and uncertainty can be difficult to bear.

At Search for Common Ground, we’ve seen firsthand the impact of this growing divide. But we’ve also seen the power of unity. In Pennsylvania, where tensions have run high, leaders from opposing political sides have come together to address the rising threat of political violence. These community leaders are setting an example for us all, proving that even in moments of deep disagreement, there is room for collaboration and peace.

Through our All We Share campaign, we are spreading the message that despite our disagreements we share more than politics and division. Together, we can transform what divides us into what binds us.

Across the country, a record amount of Love Anyway Feasts have taken place since the election, providing spaces where people put aside their differences, shared a meal, and found common ground. These feasts offered a chance to lower the temperature, heal relationships, and reminded us that we are not carrying everything alone.

Today, we invite you to join us in making a difference. As part of our The Things We Carry campaign, your support can help create more opportunities for dialogue, understanding, and peace in communities across the U.S.

This holiday season, let’s carry hope, not division. Together, we can lighten the load.
