A 4-Minute Practice to Build Trust and Connection

Date:

You can explore building greater trust and connection, even when you’re by yourself. This practice helps you give someone your undivided attention.

Today’s mantra or reminder is Give the gift of presence. In this world of constant disruption and noise, your undivided and unconditional attention is a precious gift. Being present in this way builds trust, while also strengthening the connection you have with others.

Remember this mantra when engaging meaningfully with both friends and colleagues alike. So let’s begin practicing and playing with this mantra so you know how to return to this when you are actually having a conversation

Guided Meditation: Build Trust and Connection

  1. Begin by just simply breathing in and breathing out, with awareness, intentionally. Soften your body and relax your mind.
  2. Align with the four intelligences: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. Find your own way to connect with your body. To be present in your mind. To be emotionally engaged and aligned with your intentions.
  3. Then give your full care and attention to the words, feelings, and body language of the person you’re interacting with. If you’re just practicing with me, receive these words, and see how you’re receiving them with full presence.
  4. Gently notice how it feels to give your full attention to someone else. And can you also stay connected and be kind to yourself?
  5. Take a few moments to listen within. What do you notice when you give your undivided and unconditional attention to what’s being said? Maybe it’s the subtle shifts in the body, or the emotional tone that transcends words. Trust yourself to listen and speak from a deeper place of inner knowing.

Before you begin interacting with others today, remind yourself to give the gift of your full presence to the people you’re interacting with.
