Students choose up to four emojis to write about. They paste their emojis at the top of the poem template, then use the writing lines to write a poem inspired by their emojis. Are they “in love” + “laughing” + “shocked”? Or “meditating” + “sleeping” + “confused”? Before students start working, brainstorm vocabulary that they can use to make their poems as specific as possible.

Once students have brainstormed, they can transfer their ideas into their poem. Students can use this template to create their first draft, then they can transfer their poem (with edits) onto a final product.
