Environment and Peace – Open calls for new partners

Date:

Environmental organisations play a critical role in addressing biodiversity loss and climate change. In doing so, they often operate in complex social environments shaped by social tensions, divisions, or violence. Environmental action can be particularly difficult to pursue in such contexts, yet it also offers powerful opportunities to bring people together by fostering collaboration, building trust, and strengthening social cohesion.

PeaceNexus is launching two open calls to support environmental organisations in integrating conflict-sensitive approaches into their work.

The first call is open to international environmental organisations whose primary mission is related to the environment, that operate internationally with programmes in at least five countries, that have a presence in conflict-affected contexts, and that wish to embed conflict sensitivity into their organisational practices. Selected organisations will receive tailored accompaniment, a grant of up to 50,000 CHF per phase of support for up to three phases, and access to peer learning opportunities.

The second call targets environmental organisations in West and Central Africa, including local, national, or regional organisations whose primary mission is related to the environment, that are based in Benin, Burkina Faso, Niger, Senegal, or Cameroon, or that operate regionally across West and or Central Africa, and that wish to embed conflict sensitivity into their organisational practices. Selected organisations will receive tailored accompaniment, a grant ranging from 15,000 to 45,000 CHF per phase of support for up to three phases, and access to peer learning opportunities.

The deadline for both calls is Monday, 16 February 2026, at midnight Central European Time.

More information and application details on the international call can be accessed here.
